The Map of Quietude

Highlighting nature spots in Skåne without noise pollution

Background:
Noise pollution is a widespread problem in Europe. The European Environment Agency estimates that at least 20% of Europeans are exposed to road traffic noise levels that harm their health. Furthermore, 22 million people in Europe suffer from chronic high annoyance, and 6.5 million people suffer from chronic high sleep disturbance.

The absence of noise positively affects quality of life and mental health. Sweden has 10 times more quiet places than for example Germany. Skåne is a great place to experience the countryside's peacefulness, known as quietude.

And as it happens, quietude is one of the things German tourists appreciate the most when visiting Skåne.

Solution:
We made a map of 16 quiet nature spots in Skåne and recorded one full hour at each location to provide an authentic representation of the soundscapes. The sounds can be heard on Spotify and on Visit Skånes website.

The initiative was launched in earned media, social media and with video and audio ads in Denmark and Germany.

More quiet places in Skåne will be added to the map over time.
